Dr David M. Newirth, ND
Naturopathic Doctor Anchorage, Alaska
I am a Naturopathic Doctor, trained and licensed as a primary care practitioner with the State of Alaska. My treatment goals are to promote health and wellness through natural, non-invasive approaches and I do not look at health as the “absence of disease” but rather as a promotion of optimal wellness.
I received a BS Natural Sciences from the University of Alaska Anchorage, followed by a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, an accredited 4-year medical school in Portland, Oregon. Prior to this education I was a professional chef and certified dietary manager and now have blended the two disciplines into the promotion of clinical nutrition as a critical role and cornerstone of health and wellness. As the sage Hippocrates stated over 2,000 years ago: “Let food be your medicine, let your medicine be your food”.
I use standard diagnostic tools such as lab work, X-rays, CT scans, and MRI’s, while also employing more specialized testing to include saliva and urine testing for neurotransmitter & hormone level assessment, and serum samples for food sensitivity testing and food allergy testing. I also offer non-pharmacological treatment for ADD/ADHD, anxiety, diabetes, heart disease, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I am also a certified practitioner of the Bowen Technique, a gentle form of physical medicine.
Food Allergy and Food Sensitivity Testing – Anchorage, Alaska
I specialize in helping people diagnose and treat food allergies and food sensitivity issues. Many times these can be very hard to pinpoint while the symptoms can be life debilitating. The world’s food supply has raised many health concerns due the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and genetically modified foods to name a few. This has caused a great number of people to develop food sensitivity, food intolerance, and food allergy reactions.
Your Natural Health Center in Anchorage
While many patients struggle with multiple health issues and multi-pharmacy regimens, I have been able to address these complex scenarios and bring them into focus by returning to the four cornerstones of naturopathic health & living: nutrition, exercise, healthy sleep and stress management, and then peppered with targeted natural supplements.
I am a preferred provider with Premera BC/BS and EBMS, but is not participating with Medicare, Medicaid, or Denali Kid Care. I also courtesy bill for most major health insurers and provide benefits verification for new patients.
I continue to accept new patient referrals from providers that feel a collaborative assessment and treatment approach would benefit their patients, as well as from patients who are looking for a more natural way of living their lives.
